The Criminal Investigation Division, commonly referred to as C.I.D. is responsible for the collection and preservation of evidence, case investigation, prosecution, and testimony in criminal proceedings. CID officers are trained in document examination, homicide investigation, fingerprint identification, interview and interrogation, surveillence, sex crimes, and family violence to name a few. CID officers are also responsible for Narcotics interdiction and all investigations presented to the Littlefield Police Department.

Lt. Ponce has been a member of the Littlefield Police Department for 12 years. Lt Ponce has 12 Years Law Enforcement experience and holds an Intermediate Peace Officer License. Lt. Ponce is certified as a Homicide Investigator, Forensic Documents and Fingerprint Identification. Lt. Sergeant Tony Mendez has 5 1/2 years experience in Law Enforcement. Sergeant Mendez served as corrections officer for 2 1/2 years before joining the Littlefield Police Department in December of 2003. Sergeant Mendez is certified through TCLEOSE in ASP Tactical Baton, Oleoresin Capsium Spray and for deployment of the Taser.
