Animal control handles all animal calls within the city limits; there are some exceptions.. He can be reached at the Police Station, 806-385-5161. He is available Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Here is a list of prices for the following:
- Pick-up a live animal: $25.00.
- Board domestic animal: $10.00 a day.
- Board livestock animal: $25.00 a day.
- Pick-up dead domestic animal: $15.00.
- Pick-up dead livestock animal (large): $100.00.
- Pick-up dead chicken: $10.00.
- Pick-up dead goat/lamb: $50.00.
- Pick-up dead hog/swine: $75.00.
- All snake calls (in houses, garages, barns, and cellars.): $25.00.
- Dart a dog: $25.00.
- Tranquilize a horse/cow (large livestock): $25.00.
- Out-of-town calls:
- Service call: $25.00 plus $0.425 cents a mile plus regular fees from above.
All animals picked up are available for adoption after three days, if the owner has not been located. The price for adoption is $10.00 per pet.
AFTER HOURS CALLS:
As mentioned above animal control is only available from Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The officers are duty will only handle serious animal calls, and the animal control officer will only come out if:
- Dog Bites - Life threatening.
- Injured animal- Life threatening.
- Skunk in house.
- Vicious dog.
- Livestock on highway (officers only).
- Anything that looks rabid.
An officer will be sent out to the area to see if they can do anything before calling animal control.
